About the North Carolina American Indian Health Board

 
The North Carolina American Indian Health Board, formed by the North Carolina Commission on Indian Affairs in 2009, is focused on promoting quality health care and healthy lifestyles within American Indian families and communities in North Carolina through research, education and advocacy.

Our vision is to eliminate health disparities for American Indian communities in North Carolina so that American Indians and communities can reach their full potential.
The NCAIHB is housed at the Office of Cancer Health Equity (OCHE) within the Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer. Dr. Ronny A. Bell serves as the chair of the board and the executive director of Office of Cancer Health Equity.

The NCAIHB along with the Office of Cancer Health Equity hosts a variety of education and training programs including student internships, health equity training, STEM education, and summer health careers programs to support the next generation of highly competent, culturally diverse scientists and clinicians through.]NCAIHB chair Dr. Ronny Bell and co-chair Mr. Tim McNeil work with a talented team of professionals to accomplish the North Carolina American Indian Health Boards goals and mission statement.

To advocate for more accurate data collection of the health of American Indians in NC as well as supporting culturally respectful practices in community-based research.

 
 To educate providers in culturally sensitive approaches to providing care as well as supporting the pipeline of American Indians in medical professions
